Desert Gallery > Lohman Avenue looking East from I-25 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. When I'm not in the mood to go on a big expedition to get some nice desert shots, I like to take this road to the end.

Desert Gallery > The road will turn into a dirt road which curves around to the south. You can just get out of your car and walk into the desert.

Desert Gallery > The area has a surprising number of these beautiful Yucca plants. These pictures were taken in September, but long about April-May the stalks sprout large yellow-green flowers.

Desert Gallery > To me, it's easy to anthropomorphize the Yuccas. This one seems to be raising its arms to the sky.

Desert Gallery > I'm not sure if this is a young Yucca or a different type of plant.

Desert Gallery > This small group of Yuccas are almost like old friends at this point. I've been visiting them since 2004.
