Desert Gallery > The White Sands National Monument is just south of Alamogordo, New Mexico and well worth the trip. You pay three dollars and then follow a winding two lane road into the dunes. If you are willing to walk 30 minutes into them, you will see nothing but an endless sea of white sand --- no vegitation whatsoever.

Desert Gallery > Some of the most interesting sites for me were the places where the dunes end and the "normal" Southern New Mexico desert begins.

Desert Gallery > The visitor center also has a lovely courtyard in which the traditional ceiling beam structure of the building can be plainly seen.

Desert Gallery > This bike caught my eye as I was leaving. What a good time it must be to roar along the open countryside on a perfect autumn day like the one we were having.
